At the barn #34 - Today was spa day (and I saw the first fly!)

Val was curried and brushed within an inch of his life. No bath yet, not warm enough, though I was tempted, looking at his less than white coat. He also got mane and tail haircuts + hoof treatment. Finishing touch was having his bridle path and muzzle clipped - well over an hour in the cross ties - which he was a perfect gentleman for.

Spa Day

Too soon for hair biscuits!

Tickly

Banged

How about you and me go out for some grass :)

  4. He is soooo pretty! What a handsome boy he is. I hope Rogo turns out to be even close to this handsome as he matures. Looks like Val's shedding quite a bit already.

  5. Val is one handsome guy. The first fly! Wow, even though I don't like them I guess that's a sign spring is on the way.

  8. I hate flies, but I will join you in your excitement over seeing one. I would probably do a happy dance if I saw one right now!

Val looks quite spiffy! All ready for show season!

  9. We love spa days here, although ours are not quite as involved since we don't clip at all. Val looks terrific!

We get flies hatching out periodically when we have two days of warm days/nights in a row, no matter the season, but it's the first carpenter bee that really tells me spring is near! Although last year we had a few very early ones who got nipped by a late freeze.

I am so so so ready for spring!

  10. Envies... We're a ways out from spa weather yet, and my mares are hanging on to their coat. I love shedding them out, love it, and your pix make me jealous. What a lovely boy he is.

  14. Everyone-

Thanks for all the compliments about Val's handsomeness. We better rein it in though, as his already not petite head won't fit into his halter any longer... or his run in lol :)

    Brazen King-

I hear you, mane pulling snob!! I trimmed Val's mane - quite a bit actually - but it was after I took that last picture. ;)

  17. Jessie-

allhorsestuff calls them "hair waffles" which is even better :)

    horseypants-

We have a lot of Live Oaks here - they don't drop their leaves until late spring. We're located in the southeast, at the beach.
