At the Barn #52 - What's wrong with this picture...

Yum-mo!

Yep - my (definitely not underfed) horse chowing on the day old hay scrapings (layered with poo) that he was much too good to eat off the stall floor ten minutes ago....

"Um - looks like food to me? What's your problem?!"

That Val! My horses do this, too.

Hahahaha!!! Gabe does the same thing! All the hay that wasn't worthy of his attention in the run-in suddenly become prime pickins' when they are layered with poo and wet shavings in the poop wagon!

Stock up on that beet pulp...my supplier told me last week the hay shortage in the Midwest is putting some serious pressure on the beet pulp supply.

Yup, mine do it too! Gwen makes a point to stick her head in the dung bucket every chance she gets.

It's all about location, location, location. If they're not supposed to eat it because it's in [the muck pile, another horse's haynet, the hay room, the back of the truck...], so much the better. If it's in an "approved" location... well, that's just not as much fun, so it's not as tasty! ;)

Why do they all love to nose around in the muck cart for scraps??!
I have to admit that I was admiring your footing in Val's turn out. -- so nice and sandy. so jealous. we have clay-ish mud.

Hay can be strewn all over the pasture for days and no one looks at it, but as soon as I go rake it up and put it in the wheelbarrow (with manure) then it is THE very best hay they have ever seen. What is with that?

Nothing wrong there. Looks like a happy horse. Cute Val.

That figures, they always do something silly. And eating out of the wheelbarrow like that is just too funny.

Well, if you want it, there must be something tasty about it that he just overlooked the first time!
