Mother Nature says bend over...

My dad, the critters and I are safe so far. Early days yet, but the flood damage looks to be catastrophic. The farmette is on high ground, and we still have power thank goodness. Tomorrow the storm should begin to subside.

If you are in the path of Sandy - please take all precautions. This is no joke...

The next town up the road

  2. Scary! We are feeling the effects here in Michigan. . .high winds like crazy! I am going to be braiding an identification tag in Shy's tail, just in case. . .I am even thinking about leaving her halter on for a few days and putting a tag on that too. Better safe than sorry! I hope you and, your family, and your critters stay safe!

  4. Wow! Glad you are on high ground and safe so far. It's true, hurricanes are definitely a serious matter! Best of luck and hope you come through this unscathed.

  5. That looks pretty scary. Can't wait for it to get here tomorrow! I'm hoping it weakens by the time it hits us. There are a lot of people that have been evacuated in the coast towns. Glad you are okay, I'm amazed you still have power. We lose power around here if somebody sneezes! Hang in there.

  6. Good luck - it hasn't hit us yet. I still have the boys out for tonight - their stalls are ready for tomorrow am. Tonight it is just regular rain - tomorrow the downpours and high winds are to start.

So glad to hear from you - I was worried for you and Val and everyone there.

  13. So glad you are okay and so sorry for all the folks who have lost homes/property. :/ We still have gray skies and wind but that's it - keep us updated on how things go for you and Val and the rest of the crew.

We deal with major flooding here in Fargo, but nothing like that...

  17. Stay safe and dry! The silver lining is at least you had warning to batten down the hatches and prepare.

  18. C called today to let me know that she and Val made it through the storm just fine. They never lost power but have lost internet! And they are stuck on the island until the roads and ferries are back in working order.

She had one terrifying (my word, not hers!) incident where she had to climb up on a ladder in 60 mph winds to untie a tarp so that Val would go inside his shelter, but she did it - and as of today Val was happily sleeping in the sunshine.

She especially wanted me to say that she is thinking of everyone still in Sandy's path and sends her best to all.

  19. I have been so worried about all of you east coasters. Here in ridiculously sunny and warm California, your plight seems even more serious. We watched the news for quite some time last night and could only shake our heads in sympathy. I am glad your farmette is safe, but our whole area's needs will still have a deep impact on your life. Be safe and take care.

  20. Glad you called Billie so we knew you were safe and since you just commented (thanks!) on my blog, I am happy to see you have Internet. Looking forward to your tales of living thru Sandy. Hope it's as sunny there as it is here today and you and Val are out having fun!

  22. Oh, a true relief that you are OK. I was worried about all with animals in Sandy's paths. Very terrifying. So glad you and Laz are safe. So very glad.
